The first record of The Hague, in modern day Holland, dates back to over 2000 years ago, where the documents describe the city as a Roman military camp, but archaeologists have found proof of human settlement going back as far as 3800 BC.

The city has played an important rule in ancient history where both France and Spain has ruled over the region, and the city played a key role in the Dutch independence war against the Spanish rulers.

In modern times, the city was occupied by German forces during War World 2, which The Hague ended up paying a very high price for, as the city was completely destroyed due to allied bombing and later battles between allied forces and Nazi Germany.

After the end of World War 2, The Hague became the biggest construction site in Europe, and the result is the international thriving city you can experience today, where World peace and diplomatic relations is the trademark of the day.
