The guide to Giza Necropolis was the burial grounds for the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs, their families and other important people of ancient Egypt. The area dates back to over 4600 years ago, to before 2600 BC.

The pyramids that are located in the Giza Necropolis are the tallest ancient buildings in the world, and the Pyramid of Khufu or “Cheops” was the tallest building in the world for over 3,800 years.

The entire area used to be one big cemetery, including temples, “normal” graves, smaller pyramids and the 3 big pyramids – the Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaure.

The area also includes The Great Sphinx.

The Giza Necropolis is placed approximately 25 km southwest of Cairo’s city centre in Egypt.

The guide to Giza

The guide app for Giza will take you through the entire museum and excavation site. The guide includes description of 17 buildings, and will provide a variety of functions.

Area map

The guide to Giza uses a GPS powered map, that will give you an overview of the site. Also, if you allow GPS tracking, the guide will show your position at the excavation site / museum.

Description of 17 buildings

17 of the excavated buildings in The Giza Necropolis are described in the guided map. The descriptions of the buildings are given in text, that can be read out loud to you using TTS (automatic text to speech) and it includes pictures from present day, markings of the specific building on a map (that shows your position accordingly) and 3D models or sketches of how the buildings used to look like.

The background of Giza Necropolis

The guide provides a detailed description covering the entire known history span of the area.

Audio guide

By using TTS, short for “Text To Speech,” the guide will act as an audio guide and will read the texts out loud to you. The functionality uses the built in TTS voice, meaning that the size of the guide app to the Giza Pyramid Complex is kept low.

Quotes from user reviews

“Might not ever make it to Egypt and the pyramids, but worth the price for the features… I’m sure the talking guide and other information is even more impressive if I were actually there and coordinated with GPS. Good work… A guided tour at home on my tablet… Thanks”. – Quote from Android user
